Regulator ICANN, domain name maker, finally approved the making of domain names ending in .XXX domain for adult, after 3 years of refusing to give it.
Proposals to create a special domain name adult content begins in 2003 when many new domain names approved by ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers).
But ICANN to block the use XXX domain name registration in 2007 after a ban by the U.S. government in the reign of President Bush, the basic denial of the use of the domain with the suffix XXX is a moral consideration and this is also accompanied by the threat of takeover of ICANN's functions if the ban is ignored.
But on Friday 18 March 2011, the ICANN board of directors decided to allow the use of a domain name XXX into register ICM - although behind the decision some board members opposed the decision.
That supports the decision said that with approval .XXX domain then this will provide certainty and security to the access of adult sites from the risk of virus attacks, identity theft, credit card fraud and illegal content (the children).
They also claim it will allow individuals and parents who want to avoid and block pornographic content in a way menfilter domain name .XXX
But anti-pornography organization believes that this move would indirectly legitimize the porn industry, besides that this decision has also invited criticism from several adult service providers, they said that this step will facilitate the process of censorship and that will eventually lead to reduced access of their site.
PCmag.com reported by one member of ICANN who rejected the decision saying that this step will pave the filtering site, and in the end made all the sensor domain XXX by institutions or government.
Based on the news released by ICM, the new domain name will be under the authority IFFOR which is the independent body consisting of seven people led the board of directors, in which there are representatives of child protection, privacy and security experts as well as representatives from the pornography industry.
XXX domain will be live the first planned around June or July this year 2011.
